Philippines is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is home to world-renowned natural wonders, remarkable beaches, unique cuisine, vibrant festivals that showcase its colorful culture, and friendly locals regarded as some of the happiest in the world. Aside from the Philippines' picturesque spots, the Filipinos' warmth and hospitality its beauty in itself. In fact, the Philippines often rank as the friendliest country in Asia.
Behind these beautiful smiles and giggles, most of the Filipino people are struggling. Majority of the population lives paycheck to paycheck; some households earn as little as P50.00 to P100.00 a day or close to USD 1.00 to USD 2.00. There are approximately 4.5 million homeless people in the Philippines. Aside from this, there are approximately 100,000 people trafficked each year. Many trafficked victims are promised jobs abroad or in local cities. However, after moving to a city, they are exploited and forced into prostitution. The Filipinos have a long history of conquer, betrayal, and abuse, not only from other states but from the tyranny of local leaders. Despite the challenges and oppression, they always manage to face their days with a smile. This is their unique way of displaying their humble resiliency.
Seeing these first-hand, God placed in my heart a strong desire to lend a helping hand to the Filipinos. Throughout the years, God had blessed with much more that I imagined. And the blessings and joy that I received, I want to share to my Filipino brothers and sisters. This is the reason, I started Pioneers For Jesus. As an organization, we envision to build a culture of intentional love and service. We want to help and empower others through Prayers, Sharing God’s Word, Donations, and other Acts of Love.
Pioneers for Jesus exist to respond to God’s calling in Isaiah 61 to proclaim God’s word to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom to prisoners, and love all orphans and other people who need help.
We are looking forward for God’s grace and provision as we live out his mission for us. If God has impressed upon your heart to join us in this same mission we gladly welcome you. Together let us unite in God’s work in being intentional neighbors to our community. To a life lived for others. To God be the glory.
SARKIS VARTAN KOTSCHUMIAN III Founder & CEOOur God is a forgiving God. Ephesians 4:32 says “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you”. He never forgets us. He is always beside us, just pray and let him come into your heart.
This message from the bible is what we, Pioneers Jesus, want to share to our brothers and sisters inside the prison walls. We want to restore faith and give hope to these people. We want to remind them that they are not forgotten, they are not abandoned. God is always with us. He is waiting for us to accept him. Everyone can change, even prisoners as long as we accept Christ in our lives. With God nothing is impossible.
There are some people who stays in the prison because of wrong accusations. Some doesn’t have choice but to do unlawful things to survive, and most of them were trying to turn away from their wicked ways. They are not alone on their fight because we are here to believe and support their drive to change. Our team plans on offering prayers, spreading the gospel and donating basic necessities to a chosen prison around Metro Manila. The main goal of this drive is to provide support to all the prisoners inside. To remind them that God is always watching over us and it is not the end for everything.
This is not the end. God is with us.
According to Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may do your deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” The good news is, sometimes, helping others is as simple as living an honest and faithful life. By living thoughtfully and honoring God with your words and actions, you can inspire someone to help themselves by doing the same.
Pioneers for Jesus team reached out to Barangay officials of Bagumbayan to identify which among the citizens are under the marginalized areas. We selected people living in Mercury Ave., Tawiran, and Sapang-Bato - Manggahan as our beneficiaries. One thing that we aim for is to get connected with the people on a personal level so we went down to the place and talked to the beneficiaries in person. Asking about their experiences, thoughts, and concerns especially about the pandemic. We shared food packs and pairs of shoes to almost 120 families. Also with the leadership of Pastor Francisco, we shared the goodness of God – the gospel, and prayers for salvation.
James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” A year after the State Declared Lockdown, the Philippines re-implemented its strictest lockdown. Poverty and unemployment rate continues to go up. Strict regulations on movements and logistics are in place making it difficult for the donors to reach the orphanages. We teamed up with different orphanages around Metro Manila affected by the pandemic. We prayed for them and delivered gospel tracts, sacks of rice, cooking essentials, milk, biscuits, health kits, canned goods and many more.
Pioneers for Jesus coordinated with Barangay Bagumbayan to identify which among the residents were heavily affected by the typhoon Rolly. Our team searched and reached out for the families, went to their houses, prayed for them and personally asked them of their situations and of their immediate needs. In the first part of our drive, we helped 10 families living on Tawiran sa ilog (living on riverside) and on the second part we have helped the 60 families of flood victims in Obrero, an area that is heavily flooded during the typhoon. We have handed them grocery packages, a pair of shoes, and gift toys for each child.
Pioneers for Jesus provided food packs to residents of the rural area Jala-jala, Rizal. Our Team coordinated with the local partners who initiated to start the charity drive. The area being rural was not accessible to help from most organizations. Most of the residents were not earning enough money to support their daily needs. Our local partners suggested to start a charity drive in the area that would help many of its residents. Overall, we have provided 200 food packs to the families living in the area.
Our team coordinated with Barangay Bagumbayan, Quezon City to provide gift packs for its residents. We wanted to give gifts to slum areas of Barangay Bagumbayan and inspire them in celebrating Christmas. Pioneers for Jesus worked with the barangay officials to identify which among its residents were in need. We have given toys and slippers to all the children present at the event. Overall we had given 200 gift packs and 100 pairs of slippers to all the families present. We are happy to bring happiness in other people’s Christmas.
Our team searched around the roads of Quezon City to look for street dwellers and vendors while riding a car. We offered them with prayers, and chat with them asking about their daily lives. We have surprised them with grocery packages and gift toys for children. We wanted to give hope and share kindness to those who are on dire situations. All in all, we have helped 40 families of street dwellers, homeless, beggars, junk collectors and small earning street vendors.
